“The Golden Girls” go Back country..

Terrie, Theresa, & Liz Golden escaped the approaching winter of Chicago (usa) to New Zealand for some Adventure and especially to celebrate Terri’s birthday. (What a GREAT idea!!)
Turns out they left their husbands behind to fend for themselves, while the the Golden girls Hit the West Coast with some heli-hiking, Milford Sound, Canyoning in Glenorchy, TeAnau, and Queenstown.
Also turns out that the boys back home love Fly Fishing. Research and Development was the order of the day, and it wasn’t long before we were somewhere up the Head of Lake Wakatipu.

Walking through groves of Matagouri Tree’s on the rivers edge is pretty cool. Everybody was up for some adventure but especially to see one of the main reasons we go Fly Fishing… because you see all the beautiful palces.

The river was running a touch high and smokey from a combo of rain and snow melt.

Theresa with a good sized Brown to contend with.

Having a tussell with a wild Brown Trout is an experience to be experienced, they are good fighting fish!!

A great fish to the bank, Terrie and Theresa holding the largest trout ever.

It only takes 1 fish to make a day!! After hooking a couple of other fish and having one other tussell with a rainbow that finally got off, this brown was the reward.

The “Golden Girls” with an awesome brown.

The river was running a touch high and crossing had to be done with care. These guys were up to the task and will have some great memories of a day of that was spent in a beautiful place , hiking, fishing, crossing rivers, bird song and beech forest..

Never ever thought they would cross a river, they did it well.

The walk home….. That was a great day….. next time the boys will be here i reckon….
The “Golden Girls’ are amazing! Looks like an exquisite day, beautiful country and a nice big brown as a reward for a hard days work! Awesome!

I can’t thank you enough for the terrific day on the river. A bit more hiking than I expected, but well worth every minute. The beauty of the river and it’s surroundings was unbelievable. The fishing was a lot different than I expected but I enjoyed the experience and look forward to returning to the river and catching the one I lost. (remember – I do have a year’s license…) And yes, my brothers are dying of envy. They said I could talk about the fly fishing for the day but then I could never talk about it again… A definite sign of their jealousy. We all have been raving about our day with you and your expertise in finding the fish. Your name is at the top of the list of referrals for family and friends heading over to NZ for the fun of fly fishing or Heliskiing. I’m only sorry we didn’t have enough time for what I’am sure would have been a great massage from your wife and spend some time with Jazz.
Thanks again – I loved the “Diary” of The Golden Girls going back Country… Hope you have a great fishing season.
Cheers
Terri

Haven’t had the fortitude to look at the Golden Girl’s fishing day until now. Sick with envy. I hope someday to travel back with Liz and walk along the river and cast a few times myself. Looks beautiful. They have raved about you as a guide and the wonderful country/people of New Zealand.
Hope to experience it soon.
